About the exhibition

Introduction

Launched on January 27, 2023, to coincide with Holocaust Remembrance Day, this exhibition, coordinated by the LRE Foundation as part of the “European Days of Jewish Culture 2023,” offers an exploration of the Holocaust’s multifaceted narrative. Funded by the European Union and under the broader coordination of the European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage (AEPJ), the exhibition delves into the systematic persecution and murder during the Nazi regime and its heritage.

Holocaust Remembrance Day, observed annually on January 27, commemorates the victims of the Holocaust and marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Red Army in 1945. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005, this day serves as a reminder of the genocide that resulted in the deaths of six million Jews and thousands of others. It is a day of reflection and education, urging nations to remember the Holocaust victims and to prevent future acts of genocide.

This exhibition aims to provide a multi-perspective narrative, and to raise awareness, preserve the memory of the victims, and promote understanding and tolerance. By exploring the Holocaust from various angles, we hope to foster an understanding of its causes, consequences, and the enduring need to remember and learn from this tragedy.
